A Young Englishwoman

A Young Englishwoman, by Hans Holbein, 1526–8 or about 1532–5. An older source dates it to 1540. Also known as the "English Burgher's Wife" or "An English Lady Walking". Lent by the Ashmolean Museum, Oxford, Douce Bequest, 1834, Pen and black ink and watercolour on paper, 160 x 92 mm

I found the gossamer nature of the English hood of interest, as well as the white band, and the manner the woman has in holding up her skirts.
